Roeslein & Associates, Inc. is known for their engineering, fabrication, and construction endeavors; but now the company wants to be known for more than that. Giving back to the local community is a goal of the company’s for the 2016 year. Most recently, Roeslein’s Modular Fabrication Facility (RMF), located in Red Bud, Illinois, has volunteered to help Red Bud High School.

On April 15, 2016, employees from RMF assisted their local high school by hosting an active shooter drill. Since 2013, states have been making active shooter drills mandatory for all public schools. Active shooter drills are typically set up by school districts and put on with the assistance of local police departments. When drills take place, neighboring residents and businesses are warned about the drill, simply to assure them it is just a drill. This year, Syndey White, Roeslein’s EHS Safety Specialist, and Darren Doiron, Roeslein’s Receiving Coordinator, assisted in the active shooter drill. White and Doiron expressed the importance of safety readiness and several precautions that students, teachers, and local community members can take, in the chance that a dangerous situation was to arise.

Darren Doiron headed back to Red Bud High School, on April 21, 2016, to teach health class students CPR and AED Training. In 2014, the State of Illinois mandated that all high school students, 9th-12th grade, must learn and pass a CPR certification test.

“Safety is something we take very seriously,” said Sydney White, Roeslein’s EHS Safety Specialist. “We believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility and that no job is too small we cannot take the time to perform it safely. Because we practice this in our facilities, we want to help others practices it in theirs.”

Continuing in assisting Red Bud High School, Roeslein hosted a lunch, tour, and job skills session on Friday, April 29, 2016, in their RMF facility. Students were welcomed into the facility to learn about Roeslein endeavors and take a sneak peek at some of their upcoming projects. To conclude the event, a question and answer session was held in which Red Bud students could ease their nerves about their upcoming transition from student to employee. Roeslein looks forward to upcoming events with Red Bud High School and giving back to the local community.
