Roeslein & Associates, Inc. is excited to participate with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in observing Women in Construction Week March 5-11, 2017.
Established by NAWIC, the week aims to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry, to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in construction and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
Roeslein is committed to building strength through diversity and inclusion in its company, people, partnerships, and communities. As Roeslein & Associates continues to grow, women continue to play key roles in the company. This past summer at its annual all company meeting, Caryn Ulsas, Director of Finance and Administration, was named to the company’s Ownership Group. Leading the way as the first woman in the company’s history to be named to the Ownership group, Ulsas has worked for Roeslein & Associates for 10 years and assisted in many milestones.
“It has been remarkable to work at Roeslein and see the growth over the past 10 years. The expansion to our different locations, growth in our sales, diversity in our products, services, and target markets, as well as, the additions to the ownership group give me a sense of security that Roeslein wants to provide stability and longevity for its employees and the company,” said Caryn Ulsas. “When you turn on the news, it doesn’t take long to see a story of a company downsizing, jobs being cut, plants being shut down and moved elsewhere. It’s humbling and feels good to be a part of a company that values all of their workers and is positive when looking ahead.”
Since Ulsas joined Roeslein & Associates in 2007, the company has expanded from office locations in St. Louis, Missouri and Red Bud, Illinois, to become a global engineering, fabrication and construction company with offices now in Denver Colorado, the United Kingdom and China. These expansions additionally led to the company growing significantly in its project locations creating obstacles for Ulsas and her growing finance department like learning about foreign Value Added Tax and dealing with issues like foreign withholding taxes.
As part of the company’s observation of Women in Construction Week, Roeslein & Associates will be celebrating the “Women of Roeslein” with social media posts to spark conversation with fellow friends and supporters of the industry. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more.
