With the ever-changing climate of the engineering industry, Roeslein & Associates stays ahead of the curve by offering clients 3D laser scanning to gain an accurate digital representation of their project on a large or small scale.

Roeslein’s team of trained engineers uses a Laser Scanner Focus technology to provide 3D documentation of an entire plant or a single skid, with a point cloud data output that is viewable on a variety of software platforms.

In order to give clients the best service possible, two engineers take up to a week to scan a facility, the images from which can be viewed on a range of software platforms, with the ability to output fast and accurate 3D digital color images.

The use of accurate 3D imagery enables design engineers to establish highly accurate as-built conditions for plant modifications and to determine existing site dimensions without the need of tape measures or survey equipment and tie-ins with existing facilities.

Additionally, a two-dimensional plan view of the intended scan location is used to estimate the quantity of floor level scans required. Conflicts due to additions or modifications can be resolved with ease by scanning an entire plant and pulling the resulting point clouds into drafting software, such as AutoCAD Plant 3D or Navisworks.

Roeslein & Associates has been using this method for several years and continues to diversify and strengthen their processes to better suit their customers’ needs and stay ahead of the competition.
