Roeslein & Associates Project Coordinator Eric Valin, an Army National Guard Staff Sergeant who in February 2014 was called to active duty in Afghanistan, nominated Vice President of Operations Rob Campbell and Project Director Carl Rutherford for supporting employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve Force. In response, these Roeslein managers received Department of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Awards recognizing support of employees who are also citizen soldiers.
“Any time a need arises that I have to participate in Guard duties, even on short notice, my employers are very accommodating,” Valin wrote in his nomination.
The Patriot Award reflects efforts made to assist employees through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
The awards were presented by Missouri ESGR Coordinator Bob Schure and Missouri ESGR Area Chair Dave Woolley who both emphasized the need for employer support of the Guard and Reserve.

Campbell noted that Roeslein & Associates support of the nation’s military personnel traces to CEO Rudi Roeslein, who served in the National Guard from August 1971 to April 1977.
“We have been actively trying to hire more veterans. We have had really awesome success with veterans both in our office here in St. Louis and at our production facilities in Red Bud, Illinois,” Campbell said.
