This past spring, the Community Service Committee focused on animal awareness participating in several beautification projects across the United States.
Roeslein’s Hollister location raised funds to help update Pet Friends & Rescue’s outdoor dog park, providing new walkways, tables for guests, play areas, and much more. Pet Friends & Rescue is a local, nonprofit animal shelter in Hollister, California. Their Mission is to eliminate cruelty and neglect of abandoned companion animals and encourage a community atmosphere of education, care, and concern to strengthen the human/animal bond.
Roeslein’s St. Louis office collected supplies and scheduled a cleanup day for the Open-Door Animal Sanctuary. Employees gathered at the sanctuary in House Springs, Missouri, to help clean out garages and sheds, build shade shelters, do landscaping, and enjoy time with the animals. The shelters that were built will shade the food and water areas for the dogs during outside time. Employees at the Roeslein Modular Fabrication in Red Bud, Illinois, fabricated a planter to donate to the shelter for outdoor landscaping. Open Door Animal Sanctuary is the largest no-kill shelter in the Greater St. Louis area and the State of Missouri.
“Animal shelters play a vital role in our communities as they shelter animals in need; whether it be they are lost, without a permanent home or for our own security by adopting pets that shouldn’t be roaming on the streets,” committee member Dawn Null said. She continued, “We were able to sit and play with some of them, which is always a feel-good thing! We also enhanced the appearance of the shelter, assisted with cleaning up, and organized part of the shelter so they can focus on the animals.”
